ABOUT THE ARTIST
Lauren Jessica Tang is an actor, singer, dancer, and musician based in Vancouver, BC. She is also classically trained in Ballet (RAD) (Deas Island Dance) and a range of dance styles including contemporary, modern, tap, jazz and lyrical for over 15 years (McBride's School of Dancing and Debbie Lee Dance ). Her genesis as an actor, musician, and artist began with her musical and media influences at a young age.
Growing up, she loved singing to her favourite artists while watching her favourite movie musicals with Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, Judy Garland, and Julie Andrews in 'The Sound of Music'. These musicals have inspired her through their seamless integration of their love of dance and music in one genre. As a teenager she enjoyed the works of talented choreographers such as Kenny Ortega who brought back the magic of the musicals and made them current and resurgent. Most recently she has enjoyed new musicals including 'The Greatest Showman' and 'La La Land'.
Some of her key musical influences include Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, Dua Lipa, Mariah Carey, and Shawn Mendes.
Lauren is a self-taught musician, learning acoustic guitar, ukulele, electric guitar and piano (mostly through online tutorials), and she continues to learn by doing, by performing and learning to write songs. Her formal training aside from dance, includes vocal training with the Chorus Studio and previous acting and scene rehearsal training as well. One of her favourite aspects about music is the ability to share a story, emotion, and message, and through this medium she hopes she can bring joy and spread happiness into people's lives. Her journey towards song-writing and lyrics has just begun, as she hopes to capture a perspective through her music that resonates with others and gives their feelings a voice.

As a recent graduate of the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology she enjoys viewing the world as a unique place to be explored and examined in thought-provoking ways. Playing along with her guitar, ukulele, and piano she loves to put her own take and cover on her favourite songs while working on her own original music with unique perspectives to share with the world. When she is not creating music or dancing, she also pursues many other creative endeavours.

As an avid painter, baker, and blogger, Lauren also hosts two popular blog websites for both regional dance news website Dance News BC and dessert baking website, Baking With Lauren with over 300+ dessert recipes she has completed and reviewed over the past 5 years. As a passionate rom-com, dance, and comedy TV buff. As a fervent reader of over 550+ complete books and novels , she also loved all books from author Rick Riordan (especially the Percy Jackson series) as a child, that originally inspired her initial love of reading and the creative journey that only books can bring.
She has also pursued her interest in acting through scene study and previous acting classes with the Actors Chapel and Shoreline Studios along with movie extra work and previous appearances in commercials (Common Ground Canada 150), film and local productions. In addition, Lauren's athletic endeavours (aside from her passion for ballet & dance) include her formal Martial Arts training in Tae Kwon Do where she has earned a 1st Degree Black Belt (WTTU / ATA) and previous training in archery (New York Times Interview - Hunger Games) with Lykopis Archery in Vancouver, BC.
