This post is all about Misty Copeland and how she has recently been promoted as a principal dancer on June 30th, 2015 with the American Ballet Theatre! For those of you who don't already know about Misty Copeland, she is the first African-American woman to be promoted as a principal dancer at the ABT as it marks its 75th year anniversary. Some other facts include that she is known to be a prodigy as she didn't begin dancing ballet until she was 13, which is considerably late to start dancing in the dance world. She then went on to dancing from there on and became a member of the corps de ballet of ABT in 2001 and a soloist in 2007. She is also known for her partnership with UnderArmour, for which they made a commercial about defying the standards of ballet, which is truly breathtaking to watch.
