Sweet Cherry Filled Buns (Vatrushka)!

Lauren Tang

Today I decided to make something a bit different than I usually do, as I wanted to try something new. I also wanted to make something more inventive since I had so many cherries, since it’s cherry season. This recipe, while longer than what I usually make was fairly easy to follow. I followed it pretty much exact except for a few modifications. For instance, for the cherry filling rather than sprinkling 1/2tsp of sugar for each bun, I combined the pitted cherries and ¼ cup of sugar together in a bowl and then allotted for 4/5 cherries per bun. I ended up also using 2 pans, one circular and the other was a square pan. I also used margarine to grease the pans. To determine the temperature of the milk, I used a temperature scanner since I couldn’t find the regular thermometer I usually use, but it worked out pretty well. I also used quick dry yeast rather than active dry yeast to speed up the process and it worked seamlessly. Overall, this recipe turned out really well and I hope you enjoyed this review. Happy baking :)
