Portuguese Egg Tarts!

These portuguese egg tarts have the perfect taste that will make you wonder if you bought it from the store! Since I couldn't find the frozen puff pastry at a local grocery store, I ended up making my own rough puff pastry, which may have slightly changed the results, but turned out a whole lot better than I ever suspected it would! The filling turned out perfectly and resembles a portuguese egg tart you would have at any store. The puff pastry was flaky and buttery but was a little thick unfortunately. However, next time I will probably use frozen puff pastry and if I did make the recipe for the rough puff pastry again it would perfectly match butter tarts! Which will be my new project up and coming soon! However the texture of the pastry wasn't bad but next time I would probably roll it out thinner. The recipe for the portuguese egg tart filling though was great and I would definitely use it again. Know that there is a difference between the puff pastry's made with shortening vs. butter and that the reason why the ones with butter are more expensive are simply because they are more expensive to make and are a high end item. Be sure to try these Chinese Portuguese egg tarts and I hope that you thoroughly enjoy them! Don't be afraid to email me your favourite recipe of portuguese egg tarts and pictures of yours you make at home! Have fun baking!
