A secret about red velvet cupcakes okay well not really a secret, but a fairly unknown fact is that red velvet cupcakes are just chocolate cupcakes with food colouring. Despite this, seeming fairly obvious for some people, for many it is unknown. Despite the fact, that a lot of people may have heard the rumour about red velvet cupcakes being red due to a chemical reaction, it's actually just food colouring. However, there is a chemical reaction as with all baked goods, but this has nothing to do with the colour of the cupcake. Overall, this recipe turned out very well and the frosting is perfect for practically any cupcake, and is easy to use. As for the cupcake you can also core out the middle and add in a filling such as chocolate, raspberries, cherries, or strawberries, all of these work amazing with chocolate!
