Candy Cane Sugar Cookies!

Who's excited for Christmas? I know I am! So to start off the Christmas baking I made Candy Cane shaped sugar Cookies :) These turned out great and for this post I just used a mix and focused on my decorating skills for cookies to come during Christmas break :) For this recipe, I was able to make approximately fifty candy cane cookies. To decorate, I used vanilla icing that was based off of icing sugar, vanilla, and water, and I used some red and white sprinkles that I bought from Michaels and for the others I used red food colouring to colour the icing. One of the methods I used was to use a knife to evenly spread the white icing on each candy cane and then coloured the red coloured icing and put it in a ziplock bag and cut a little hole at the bottom with scissors in the corner. Then I evenly spread out the red lines of a candy cane diagonally, or at least I tried to haha. As for the other method, I tried also alternating with red and white icing with two separate ziplock bags. I also tried using a knife to spread the white icing on a few of the cookies and then using a paintbrush (that I only use for baking/cooking) I dipped the brush into red food colouring and spread the colour in diagonal stripes. Another method was by spreading white icing over the top of the cookie and then dipping it in sprinkles that I spread out on a plate that I covered in a mound of sprinkles. So, those were the main techniques I used and after much consideration I found the most effective methods were painting the stripes on and dipping the white icing of the cookies into sprinkles. Hope you enjoyed this baking technique post. Enjoy :)
