Terry's Butter Tart Slices!

Writer's picture: Lauren TangLauren Tang

Today I decided to make these delicious Butter Tart Slices, courtesy of my neighbour Terry, as this is her favourite recipe from a collection of cookbooks by the Best of Bridge. I remember exchanging Christmas desserts with her growing up and this was one of my family's favourites. However, I did add a few things that are indicated in the recipe that I don't remember if she kept when she made them, such as the unsweetened shredded coconut and chopped pecans. This recipe also has raisins and because of how many additions there are the batter is a bit thick but once it bakes it's perfect! The top will appear bubbled over but don't worry because all butter tarts will have this texture. This dessert is a Canadian Christmas dessert classic, and until I got a bit older I was shocked that outside of Canada it isn't as well known. However, I would recommend that you give it a try as it is a delicious Christmas dessert! One of the interesting parts of this recipe is that it doesn't need to have a greased pan and besides using a small knife for the edges, it's actually really easy to take out of the pan. Also, be sure to check out the step-by-step video I made for this recipe under the 'Video' tab. Overall, I hope you enjoyed this review and let me know what your favourite Christmas dessert is! Happy baking :)
