Air Fryer Glazed Donuts!

Today I decided to try out something new and make these Air Fryer Glazed Donuts. Recently, my parents bought a new Breville microwave that's a 4-in-1 appliance, as it acts as a microwave, convection oven, grill, and air fryer, so I thought it'd be fun to try out some new air fryer baking recipes. To make these, it was fairly easy in terms of common household ingredients and rolling it out was a piece of cake.

The main thing to keep in mind while making donuts is that you'll have to wait in between quite a bit more than you would with making cookies or a cake in order to let the dough rise. This is a common occurrence among breads and pastries, however, it's been awhile since I've made them, so I forgot how time consuming it can be to wait around for the proofing. No worries, it leaves lots of time for cleanup and doing other tasks intermittently throughout the day but keep this in mind if you have other obligations to do as well. In terms of using the air fryer it took a bit of an adjustment to get used to using it, and each batch became progressively better.

A few tips would be to make sure to preheat the air fryer microwave with the pan inside and then quickly spray the pan with oil and place the donuts on the pan and lightly spray the donuts and put the pan back in the air fryer. The recipe called for frying it for four minutes, but it took about 6.5 minutes to get the right golden-brown colour it described and showed in the recipe.

From there, I dipped the donut in the glaze and let them cool on a cooling rack. The glaze was amazing, and I would highly recommend using the glaze for other donut recipes if you need one, it's exactly the right consistency, texture, and flavour of your typical donut! It's also super simple and quick to make in a pinch. As for the texture of the donut itself, it was doughier or bread like than your typical donut. I wish it were fluffier, however, I think with a bit of adjustments the donuts could achieve the fluffiness I was looking for. It might also just be that I'll have to try and deep fry them. Overall, this recipe turned out fairly well and I would highly recommend trying out the glaze, but keep in mind as to the differences between air fried donuts vs. cake donuts vs. deep fried donuts. Happy baking :)
