Old-Fashioned Creamy Rice Pudding!

Writer's picture: Lauren TangLauren Tang

Today I decided to make a classic winter dessert, namely Old-Fashioned Creamy Rice Pudding! Rice pudding is one of those desserts that can also double as a snack and is perfect served warm or cold, which you can modify to fit your needs! Add-ons can vary from raisins, nuts, cinnamon or nutmeg, and more! In terms of modifications there weren't many that I ended needing to change. The only ones I can think of would be to make sure not to heat it over the stove too long, as the mixture will become too thick otherwise. Also, I added about 3/4 cup of Thompson raisins instead of 2/3 cup. Some alternatives I've also seen is by using whole milk or sweetened condensed milk for a creamier texture. One thing to be keep an eye out for is to pre-mix the egg with the milk and constantly stir simultaneously when adding to the rice mixture, so as to ensure there aren't any egg pieces that cook separately instead of combined. Another modification I ended up doing later on was adding 3/4 cup milk to the mixture, as my dad preferred a thinner texture similar to that of Cozy Shack's rice pudding, so if you are expecting the same consistency try it out this way! Overall, this recipe turned out well and I hope you enjoyed this review. Happy baking :)
