Today I decided to make these very festive Sugar Cookie Christmas Trees with Buttercream Frosting. One of my favourite things about this recipe is that the dough doesn't require chilling in the fridge, which significantly decreases the amount of time for waiting around while baking.
In terms of modifications, I ended up baking the larger cookies for 12 minutes and 8 minutes for the small and medium-sized cookies. The recipe ended up making approximately thirteen stacked sugar cookie trees. I also used a piping bag and piping tip to create the swirls of the green leaves. As for decorations, I used a combination of blue, purple, and white sprinkles that varied from pearls, circles, rectangles, and stars. However, you can use whatever you like to decorate these trees, kind of like decorating your own mini Christmas tree!
Another tip for determining the perfect sizes for the three levels of the tree, try splitting the dough into little balls that are all the same size and then use one of them to roll for the top level, two for the second, and three for the bottom of the tree. In terms of cooling, it took about fifteen to twenty minutes, you want to make sure it fully cools otherwise the buttercream will melt off. As for the overall taste, my parents both gave this recipe two thumbs up and said it's one of their favourite sugar cookies I've made. I hope you all enjoyed this review and happy baking :)
